Definitely have to pimp Kamekaze Girls (a.k.a. Kamikaze Girls) from here on out. DC Anime club's viewing was an absoulte treat. I would describe this Japanese comedy as a live-action FLCL, with a heavy dose of Fight Club, and Ghost World, if they were directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Like Fight Club, the first two acts are feats of fearless filmmaking. Fourth-wall breaking, precocious grade-schoolers, and animated flatulence are just ice cubes off this iceberg. The lead actresses are a perfect yin/yang couple: a frilly girl who loves sweet things, cute things, frilly things, and the Rococco Period, and a masculine, "Yanqui" biker chick who's always spitting and headbutting people.
Review later. It isn't animated, so I can't pimp it in any of my usual forum hangouts. It's Japanese with subtitles, so I'd be out of my depth if someone wants to compare it with Ringu or something. It skews young, so it won't get NPR coverage.
It's a must-see, though, if not for the first 40 minutes alone.

- Tell Consumer Reports that their recommendation of Stop 'n Shop Yogurt neglected to mention that the product is relabeled as Giant-brand yogurt. That, and their ratings of ridiculously expensive bathroom improvement products and percale sheets showed a Martha Stewart-esque obsession with the ephemeral.
